Red Calabash Organic Tomato Seeds- 30+
This unusual variety originates from Chiapas, Mexico. It was first documented by William Weaver as appearing in a 1793 painting by Raphael Paele. Now that's an old variety!!
I grew it this year for the first time and was quite pleased with the results. The plants are quite productive and somewhat compact (5 feet).
The fruit are deep-red in color, meaty, and average 3-4 ounces in size. They are ribbed (some say they resemble pumpkins in shape) and have a delicious, heirloom flavor. There is good reason they have been grown doe at least 250 years.
