Perennial Wildflower - Purple & Pink Flowers 100+ Seeds

Lupines have a very interesting history. They were carried around the Mediterranean region as a food source by the Romans. The Lupine peas (seeds) were collected, packed in a brine, and used as a staple food for the legions.

Lupines are a genus in the legume family and thus are a wonderful companion plant for cucumbers, squash, lettuce, broccoli, cabbage, etc. They are closely related to Sweet Pea.

Since this is a wild, open-pollinated variety you can expect flowers that range from purple to blue and pink.

Lupine should be sown directly in the garden as they form a tap root that is easily damaged by transplanting. It is best to sow outdoors when low temperatures are in the 20's and 30's. They prefer cool summer weather and a light, sandy soil.
